The holidays are over, the weather’s cold and the kids have watched too much TV. Local play centers, bowling alleys and skating rinks offer a healthy alternative to the couch. There, kids can climb, play, skate, bowl and even play video games. Here is a guide to area indoor fun.
Indoor Play Centers
It’s a good idea to call ahead as most centers host birthday parties and some or all attractions might be closed to the public.

This chain restaurant also offers a midway with classic video games, skeeball, sporting games and pool tables. Guests younger than age 21 must be accompanied by an adult age 25 or older and must leave by 11pm unless already seated in the dining room.

Located at Peddler’s Village, this amusement center features Giggleberry Mountain, a 3-story, 6 level indoor obstacle course. The center is also home to the Grand Carousel, a game room and Discovery Land, where young kids can climb on a full-size wooden pickup truck and fish for plastic fishes.

Playland features a foam forest, slides, a web bridge, rock wall and soft-play section. Children with special needs are invited to free play (admission is waived) every Tuesday from 10am-5pm.

Center features a soft playground and the Ballocity Arena, which features platforms and soft playground elements. Blasters, vacuums, cannons and buckets propel, throw, raise, vacuum and dump soft foam balls throughout the arena.

When checking in, ask for bumpers, which block the gutters so kids have a better chance to hit the pins. Mon.-Fri. daytime rates are often lower.
