The holidays are over, the weather’s cold and the kids have watched too much TV. Local play centers, bowling alleys and skating rinks offer a healthy alternative to the couch. There, kids can climb, play, skate, bowl and even play video games. Here is a guide to area indoor fun.
Indoor Play Centers
It’s a good idea to call ahead as most centers host birthday parties and some or all attractions might be closed to the public.
Funplex, The, 3320-24 Rte. 38, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. 856-273-9666, www.thefunplex.com. This venue is geared toward children ages 4 and older. It features both indoor and outdoor attractions. Indoor attractions include jr. bumper cars, electric go-karts, an arcade, laser tag and Foam Frenzy, a 2-level play unit for kids ages 4-12 with thousands of foam balls.

Kids 30 inches and taller are welcome to play on three of the inflatables, but children need to be at least 36 inches to play on the large obstacle course.

Ask for bumpers at the counter when checking in. Bumpers block the gutters so kids have a better opportunity to hit the pins. At most alleys rates are lower weekday mornings and afternoons.
